“If you don’t like me, well, then you’re wrong”

30 April 2009 | No Comments

So I swore off politics because I don’t want this blog to be my political rant. However, occasionally, I still feel the need to pass things along.

For example, our President thinks he is God’s gift to mankind. I don’t envy his job, however it is a bit petty to talk down about anyone who disagrees with you. Especially in politics, where there is always room for debate. So much for being ‘bipartisan’ as he congratulates Specter’s switch to his party.

Anyhow, to stay on point, Obama recently criticized ‘news stations that don’t like him’ and the conservative tea party protests in one sentence. (And I am ignoring the fact that he claims he has NO RESPONSIBILITY for the deficit.)

If you can’t see it, go here.

In case you didn’t know, the tea party protests were a collection of around 1000 protests nation wide on tax day, with estimates of attendance between 300,000-600,000 people. The parties, named after the Boston Tea Party, were a protest to the excess government spending, corruption and excess taxes. (One of my favorite sings that I saw in the pictures said “Even God only asks for 10%”. Read about the parties here and here.

Now lots of people decided that this would a good time to insert attempts at immature sexual humor, i.e. all the news stations could now talk about how all the conservatives were ‘teabagging.’ If you don’t know what that is, you are probably better off. I will give you a few clues but you are on your own. It is referenced in Sex and the City and you can find a definition on the Urban Dictionary.

I can see the random bloggers making crude sexual jokes, but when the main stream media and THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA use these jokes, what am I supposed to think?

I suppose that the only reason I am upset is because that I am a terrorist, I mean a right wing extremist.

Good grief. Its ok to bash Bush, but do not question the Obama.

P.S. Since all the networks are celebrating Obama’s first 100 days as something historic, I would like to commemorate this occasion as well.
Read this and this for some laughs.

And I should point you to one of my favorite political writers, Paul Ibrahim. And he is about my age!

UPDATE: Check this out. They are taking up the President’s offer. If you missed the offer, watch the above video.
